BUILD LEGACY, DRIVE INNOVATION, SHAPE THE FUTURE
What if the next chapter of your career wasn’t just a job — but a chance to invent, evolve and leave behind something that matters?
My client is a growing and innovative engineering group based in Edmonton (southeast central location), with a strong focus on the energy sector, particularly in the heavy oil space — both above and below ground. The company offers an entrepreneurial, mid-sized culture that is highly multidisciplinary, bringing together some of the best talent in the industry.
THE COMPANY
· It is a place where people are not only experts in their fields but also deeply engaged in their work and genuinely enjoy collaborating with one another.
· They work in close partnership companies and universities and lead cutting-edge industry research that has the potential to be true game changers.
· Their technologies often leverage low- to medium-voltage solutions integrated with solar, wind, and electricity to deliver safer, more efficient, and more sustainable ways of doing business.
· The company operates several dedicated on-site facilities that support diverse types of research, design, and testing — giving engineers the opportunity to not only build solutions but also validate and refine them in real-world conditions.
SNAP SHOT – LEAD ELECTRICAL ENGINEER (P.Eng)
· We’re not looking for someone to simply “fill a role.” At the heart of it, you are an inventor, a collaborator, and thought leader who thrives at the intersection of autonomy, curiosity, and purpose.
· You love the joy of solving hard problems – following the idea from inception to use.
· You enjoy partnering with end-users, and creating sustainable technologies that will continue to evolve through your work and that of future generations.
· This role is primarily onsite, offering office and lab-based areas, offering you a balance of technical depth and professional stability.
· You are the kind of person who “tinkers”, builds, and dreams on the weekends — who believes work should be both fun and meaningful — this is your chance to shape technologies that push the industry forward toward safer, smarter, and more sustainable solutions.
· You are mid-career but feeling that you are not able to fully apply your skills and purpose or you could have 5 or so years left and want to “play” and be part of something revolutionary in a less bureaucratic more integrated environment that has a direct and collaborative pipeline to other company leaders and the President.
· Ideally you live in the Edmonton area and hold a current Professional Engineering designation and are in good standing with APEGGA.
WHY THIS ROLE DIFFERENT
Autonomy with Purpose: Freedom to innovate and push the envelope within a vertically integrated culture that values bold ideas.
Collaboration at Its Best: Work with interdisciplinary teams where every idea is valued and contributes to breakthrough outcomes.
Be Seen & Heard: Become an internal and external expert — author and present your findings, be recognized as a leader in your field.
Work Joy & Legacy: This is about building technologies that will outlast your career and set a foundation for the next generation.
Mentoring & Leadership: This role provides a clear pathway into a senior-level opportunity with succession potential. You will mentor a junior team member while also serving as a role model and resource for indirect reports. At the same time, you will receive strong support and mentorship yourself as you onboard and establish your footing in the role.
YOUR PROFILE
· You are a curious problem-solver who loves the blend of hands-on engineering and strategic big-picture thinking.
· Someone who thrives on project management from start to finish — from design to commissioning and beyond.
· You are solid communicator who possesses a strong acumen for listening, addressing challenges and engaging – always working towards building authentic and mutually-trusting partnerships with clients, leaders and your peers.
· A lifelong learner who enjoys exploring new ideas, playing with technology, and keeping fresh so your ideas stay forward-thinking.
· An individual with a wide skill set, excited by the chance to idea generate, “play”, invent, and research – creating quality, precision, and impact.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
· Design and build medium-voltage electrical systems for next-generation downhole electric heating technologies.
· Work with, evolve and become an expert with already existing proprietary technologies.
· Program and maintain PLC and control system software that keeps operations precise and safe.
· Invent, test, commission, and troubleshoot innovative systems — and provide technical guidance to clients and field teams.
· Lead projects end-to-end, from technical proposals to QA/QC to delivery.
· Be a voice for sustainability — guiding electrification, efficiency, and safety improvements in emerging technologies.
WHY YOU WILL FIND WORK JOY
· You’ll be surrounded by like-minded multidisciplinary innovators who are just as curious, communicative, smart and inventive as you are.
· You’ll work in an environment where you are seen, recognized and where being happy at work matters — where quality, team and fun go hand-in-hand.
· You’ll have the space to continue or finish your career at the top of your game, with work that defines both your present and your legacy.
