Executive Director (Edmonton, AB) – NO LONGER AVAILABLE

Our client, a long serving human services not-for-profit, is in search of a new EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR (Edmonton, AB) to strategically lead and advance their organization. Reporting to a well-defined governance board, they boast a significant employee base along with a large contingency of volunteers.  This organization has earned high visibility in the Edmonton/area community and offers a multitude of targeted programs and services that have been very successful in engaging community partners and funders.

The Executive Director possess the following characteristics:

You are an advocate of open and respectful communication with the board, employees, volunteers, community partners and key stakeholders. You have a strong desire to make a significant difference in the organization you represent, leveraging your talent to make a positive impact along with providing a return on investment for those who hired you. You don’t hide, you own your mistakes, and you have a strong sense of your talent, including the areas you don’t excel in.

RESULT ORIENTED – You get things done, typically by fixing, building, creating, and/or improving things.  You appreciate a plan and like setting clear expectations. You are comfortable with challenge and have no problem going around, through or removing roadblocks whilst promoting high levels of accountability.  You will get “in the weeds” when needed to achieve the desired business results; albeit, you prefer to work through and with your team versus micromanaging situations. Possessing both linear and non-linear thinking, you are client centric and will always keep the people you serve best interests at the forefront when leading the organization.  You are known for your energy, enthusiasm, innovation, empathy, optimism, positivity, drive and passion.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE SUMMARY

  • 7+ years and related success patterns leading a human services or socio-health related not-for-profit of 50+ employees
  • Strong and proven ability to work successfully with and report to governance board
  • Strong application of business methodologies in leading an NFP, including developing a stronger sustainability model
  • Executed strategic plans that have created positive and measurable outcomes
  • High emotional intelligence and communication skills, comfortable presenting, being the face of the organization and working with media
  • Collaboration, relationship building and management capabilities with stakeholders and community
  • Business development and revenue generation dexterities, including corporate partnerships, grant based funding, government funding and the like
  • Built and developed strong, functional, mutually trusting team(s) through growth and change
  • Strong capacity for using technology and various software applications, including Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Solid HR comprehension and understanding of how to build organizational effectiveness
  • Post-Secondary Education (human services, business and/or other) and/or applied experience
